Artist Spotlight: Marion Bolognesi

13_loucopy

To all those who appreciate the beauty and wonder a fabulous piece of artwork can bring, here’s a little beauty I stumbled upon and decided to share with you.  This piece titled “Watercolor Faces” was inspired and created by Marion Bolognesi.  Bolognesi is an artist and designer who pursues her artistic inspirations out of New York City where she currently works and resides.  Based upon what I’ve read about her, Bolognesi’s paintings evoke strong emotion through her use of vibrant and complementing color schemes which favor well to people who admire her work.

I would have to say that her effective use of white space along with the watercolor is what drew me to this piece.  Whatever technique Bolognesi infuses into her paintings, it certainly emits her passion for beauty and appeal to the eyes.  If you would like to view more of Bolognesi’s work click the photo above and check out her website.

It’s been a real treat to share this with you as well as discover a talented artist, so if you have something neat you would like me to feature in my next post, connect with me by giving me feedback in the Feedback Hub.

Nail Fetish Tutorial: Drip, Drip

Nail Fetish: Drip, Drip

For all who don’t know, I am a fanatic when it comes to nail art and designs of any kind…especially when they are easy to recreate!

Today I stumbled upon a lovely little masterpiece from Beautylish.com. I personally like to call this nail design “paint drip”. As you can see, this is an easy design to do and so let’s lay down the steps in what to use and how to recreate it.

TOOLS YOU NEED:

  • Bobby pin (rounded end will serve as a the dotting tool)
  • Nail polish of light color OR white
  • Nail polish of one OR more vibrant colors
  • Base coat
  • Top coat

STEPS:

  1. Apply one layer of Base Coat to each nail and allow to dry completely.
  2. Apply 1-2 coats of your white OR light colored nail polish and allow to dry completely.
  3. Using the rounded tip of a bobby pin, dip into a small pool of vibrant color polish.
  4. Make a few random dots where you want the “dripping” to go, then drag the color to the tip of the nail.
  5. Finish the nail tips by painting the vibrant color across so the design is uniform and let nails dry completely to prevent smudging.
  6. Apply your Top Coat over dry nails for a high gloss shine and allow nails to dry.

There you have it…a fun, funky way to show off your creative side and style! Enjoy this fun manicure!
